Requirements:
The following are the requirements to apply for telephone line technician vacancies within Canada;
Qualifications: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year
Languages: English
Duties:
The candidates shall perform;
- Install and maintain aerial & underground telephone equipment
- Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders & other support structures
- Repair/ replace defective telephone equipment regularly
- Excellent communication skills are needed
- Time management & customer service skills
- Determine the nature, cause, and location of trouble & then sort out issues
- Inspect and test trunking systems in areas to find problems
- Splice, join and connect wires to run the process
- Test equipment to locate transmission faults and issues
- Read and interpret blueprints and work accordingly
- Complete and maintain test and service reports of telephone equipment
- Moreover, instruct apprentices & repair the coaxial line, fiber optics, copper & single telephone lines, etc
- A valid driving license is required
- Use of steel-toed safety boots while performing work
- Handling heavy loads and being physically fit to perform well
- Should pass the basic security clearance at the beginning of the job
- Installation of cables in rural, urban, and remote locations
